Global Virtual Design & Construction Resource Center, offering BIM content and other digital services for the construction industry
BASF has launched the Global Virtual Design & Construction Resource Center (VDC), where professionals can access to digital content, training and collaboration tools to utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM). Also, users of the center have access to digital tools that help in the selection and use of BASF’s products.
BASF is the first among the world's leading construction chemicals suppliers to have developed an internal corporate standard for digital creation, quality control and maintenance for BIM content. This document is based on the best practices of existing international standards developed by such authoritative organizations as American Institute of Architects (AIA), British Standards Institute (BSI), BIM-forum, American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Standards Organization (ISO), etc.
Currently, the concern's portfolio offers over 200 BIM objects. Digital content includes technical specifications and installation information, as well as data on the stability, geometry, and technical requirements of BASF products. In the near future, it is planned to update the portfolio with more than 400 models (including waterproofing systems, floor and protective coatings, solutions for the repair of concrete structures, control systems and more). The Center also has more than 50,000 data from 150 countries. BASF's portfolio of proposals will be gradually replenished with new objects and models.
The construction industry in Kazakhstan is implementing digital technology actively. Currently, the possibility of practical application of BIM in the construction industry of the country is being promoted by the Committee on Construction, Housing and Utilities Services of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. BIM technology is being introduced in stages, and at the moment construction companies
are voluntarily developing standards and applying them in their practice. The Committee expects that Kazakhstan will finally switch to BIM-technologies by 2023. Therefore, the VDC Resource Center of BASF will be an excellent support for the professionals of the construction industry in Kazakhstan in mastering digital approaches. Due to the fact that the BASF covers solutions created on the basis of the achievements of chemical science, users get quick and convenient access to innovative developments.
