BASF Construction Chemicals marks its 10th anniversary

In 2006, The Chemical Company acquired Degussa Bauchemie

BASF Construction Chemicals marks its 10th anniversary this year, which is a proud achievement for us all. It is a significant milestone in our journey towards making BASF Construction Chemicals an integral part of the BASF Group portfolio in the Middle East and worldwide.  It was in mid-2006 that BASF made strategic decision to purchase Degussa Bauchemie's construction chemicals business to create what is today known as BASF Construction Chemicals. BASF chose this entity due to its excellent market position, extensive knowledge and the valuable expansion opportunities it presented.

Today, BASF's construction division offers advanced chemical solutions for new construction, maintenance, repair or renovation of structures. BASF taps into the opportunities across the infrastructure and building sectors – which is especially flourishing across the GCC.  The recent focus on sustainable construction practices and green building regulations have further enhanced the demand for raw materials and innovations which not only manage energy but also reduce the carbon footprint over a period of time.

BASF Construction Chemicals has thus found considerable success and has steadily grown year-on-year. In 2013, we launched the Master Builders Solutions brand, which leveraged BASF's global know-how and customized solutions for various construction markets and environments.

BASF Construction Chemicals today works across prestigious global projects- such as the Gotthard Base Tunnel in Switzerland and the Osman Gazi Bridge in Turkey. BASF has also made its mark in regional landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, the Doha Metro Project, Kuwait International Airport, Dubai International Airport and Ferrari World, to name a few. As we move forward, we remain committed to creating chemistry which helps structures thrive through their life cycle.

Over the years, this acquisition has proven to be a valuable add-on to the BASF Group's legacy in providing sustainable solutions to a wide range of industries.
