Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and blended cements provide options for concrete producers, contractors and engineers and architects to design concrete mixtures with improved durability and lower embodied-carbon footprint. This session will review the various ASTM and CSA specification that govern the use of supplementary cementitious materials and blended portland cement. It will also cover the performance benefits of these materials and the ability to improve the durability of concrete while reducing embodied-carbon footprint of a building.
