Long term flooring solution for Distell saves money for stoppages due to repair floors, Gauteng - South Africa
The Background
Distell, the manufacturer, marketer and distributor of cider beverages in Southern Africa, has one of its bottling plants in Springs, South Africa. It supplies its ciders and energy drinks to all major liquor retail outlets and stringent hygiene standards in the bottling process are a prerequisite. When Distell planned their new bottling line of 6 800m², they selected BASF Construction Chemicals as their flooring supplier of choice.
In addition to improving hygiene, a slip-resistant surface that could withstand the heavy duty abuse from its bottling line process, industry cleaners and hot water discharge from the bottle cleaning plant, was required. Installation needed to be done in a dustless environment, so a dust-free fast track solution was essential.
The Challenge
The contractor had to keep to a very tight schedule, in amongst other trades. The brief called for areas to be prepared, screeded and the joints cut and sealed, all ensuring a dust-free environment.
Our Solution
We recommended Ucrete UD 200, a heavy duty polyurethane concrete overlay system. The client selected the specialist flooring contractor, and BASF Approved Flooring Applicator, to do the installation. The Ucrete UD 200 was installed at 6mm thickness, and under the pasteurization plant, where higher temperatures were expected, it was installed at 9mm thickness.
Customer's Benefit
Distell were so delighted with the installation and performance of the Ucrete floor, so much so that six months later they installed another Ucrete floor in the new brew house.
