Over 120 senior engineers, consultants and contractors enjoy an evening seminar on this essential topic
On 12th November 2018, over 120 invited guests enthusiastically received an entertaining and instructive presentation provided by Brian Williams, Marketing Manager Middle East.
The starting premise was that sustainability is embraced by the highly competitive construction industry only when the economic business case has been made, and proven, for whatever new product, process or concept is presented.
He then used the model of Concrete Durability presented in Issue 2 of Tawasul, which describes how concrete durability, an essential contributor to the sustainability of most Middle East construction projects, is determined by the quality of the protective concrete layer over the reinforcing steel. Poor workmanship, poor compaction, cracking and honeycombing provide direct pathways for the aggressive attack by chlorides, carbonation and sulphates.
The presentation described the technological advances, over the past 10 years within the MasterGlenium, MasterMatrix and most recently MasterEase admixtures, which have made the production of low viscosity, economic, robust self-consolidating concrete an essential weapon in reducing the human element of the placing of concrete, and thus improve the quality, durability and sustainability of the finished structure.
In the second half of the presentation, he dealt directly with the strategies available to protect and improve the service life of the completed structure from those same aggressive agents before finishing with describing improvements in the Ucrete flooring range and new MasterTop TC 941 and MasterSeal 7000 CR the revolutionary new resin technology, Xolutec.
An information exhibition booth was also well received by the guests who also enjoyed the splendid evening meal provided.
