Within the framework of the conference "BASF Solutions for SOCAR" held on June 20-21, 2018 in Baku, the companies discussed possible areas of cooperation in the field of hydrocarbon processing, innovative technologies for motor fuels, as well as new construction solutions for industrial structures.

The regular conference organized by BASF for the employees of manufacturing enterprises and research organizations, which are the units of SOCAR, was aimed at introducing the latest technologies and developments in the oil and gas industry as well as products applied in constructions at chemical industry enterprises. BASF also summarized the joint manifold activities between the companies in the construction of numerous chemical facilities of SOCAR. The specialists from the Production Union "AzeriKimya", Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, Research Institute under SOCAR, Modernization Projects Management Department, SOCAR Carbamide Plant, "SOCAR Petroleum" Closed Joint-Stock Company, the Plants of "SOCAR Polymer" and "Ethylene-Polyethylene attended to the conference.

The first day of the conference, which took place in the SOCAR Tower, began with the keynote speech of Mr. Tolga Baysinop, the General Manager of BASF Caspian, "Concern BASF held a conference for employees of SOCAR and AzeriKimya, so that leading Azerbaijani enterprises could use the company's newest contribution to the development of world chemical technologies. This conference was entirely devoted to chemistry, starting from reagents for oil fields and ending with cooperation in the field of catalysts, fuel additives. On behalf of BASF, we expect new joint projects due to the results of the conference in the implementation of which we will be able to work on those exceptional challenges that arise in the activities of high-profile chemical enterprises". Since the first joint workshop in 2011, close cooperation has been established between the two companies in the field of application of products intended for industrial structures. During the construction of the SOCAR Tower (2016), concrete additives, repair materials and high-precision grouting products, floor coverings, sealing and insulating materials produced by BASF have been used. In addition to this, these construction solutions had been applied in the following projects: STAR Oil Refinery built by SOCAR Turkey (2018), the implementation of the second stage of the development of the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea (2018), the modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, construction of the SOCAR POLYMER Plant (2018) and the Carbamide Plant (2018).
