BASF showcases sustainable solutions that make underground construction safer and more efficient at Concrete Techno Plaza 2018

    • MasterRoc SA-series, high-performance, alkali-free, liquid set accelerator helps industry meet stringent safety and environmental regulations
    • MasterRoc TSG and BSG series ensures reliable and efficient tunnel boring machines (TBM)
    • Enhances tunneling operation efficiency and reduces material wastage

BASF Spray ConcreteMasterRoc SA alkali-free accelerators can speed up the setting and hardening of the sprayed concrete. It helps industry meet stringent safety and environmental regulations.

Tokyo, Japan – June 28, 2018 – At Concrete Techno Plaza 2018, BASF will present a broad portfolio of innovative construction solutions addressing safety concerns in the tunneling industry, while increasing operational efficiency of underground construction, from July 4 – 6, 2018, at Kobe Fashion Mart in Japan.

Takahiro Ikeda, Head of Construction Chemicals of BASF Japan Ltd. said, “As a world leading solution provider in the underground construction segment, BASF’s technology and product performance have been proved and recognized in many international projects. Together with our expertise on concrete mix design, concrete rheology, pumpability and strength development, we offer the most comprehensive package to fulfill the long-term needs of tunneling projects in Japan.”

MasterRoc SA alkali-free accelerators can speed up the setting and hardening of the sprayed concrete. They provide high early strength gain and long-term strength development, as well as enhanced durability. Thanks to its liquid form, it can help reduce dust and rebound levels during spraying operations. It optimizes material consumption while improving working conditions on-site, compared to traditional powder accelerators. The environment and health risks during the handling and storing of powder materials will also be significantly reduced.

MasterRoc SA series complies with all relevant global regulations and meets new and even stricter environment and health regulations for Japanese industry.

BASF introduces new tail sealant, MasterRoc TSG, and main bearing sealing grease, MasterRoc BSG, to ensure reliable and efficient tunnel boring machines (TBM). BASF’s new tail sealant can effectively seal the gap between the shield and concrete segments to prevent the ingress of water, grouts and soil, while the bearing sealing grease can protect and lubricate the main bearing, the most costly part of the TBM.

“Our company's strong research and development capability is a base for ongoing innovations to support the industry's needs. BASF builds on that legacy with expertise, commitment and a customer-centered approach. We will continue to bring in new innovation, especially for the underground construction industry, and stay committed to serving the Japanese market,” Ikeda confirmed.

In addition to the solutions for the underground construction industry, new concrete admixtures and the high-performance grout for the wind power station will also be exhibited.
